About 10 years ago, when Hurricane Katrina made landfall near New Orleans, Louisiana, as a Category 4 hurricane. Also read: How are the righteous as bold as a lion?
After it had come ashore in southern Florida as a Category 1 hurricane, Katrina gained more impetus before roaring into the Gulf Coast.
The Hurricane Katrina was the worst natural disaster in the United States history. In addition, it brought great devastation to the people of New Orleans, and massive destruction of many areas in New Orleans.
It caused major damage along the coast of Mississippi Alabama, and stretched to other parts of Louisiana.
The disastrous moment of Hurricane Katrina will be difficult to forget in our memories.
We still remember our loves ones lost in the disaster, the bleak images, the destruction of our labors, facilities, and the aftermath of the storm that our nation faced.
To know the 7 promises
As Hurricane Katrina was dealing massive damage and destruction, people of New Orleans, many have evacuated before it’s arrival. And a lot of people sought refuge in nearby cities.
Living in Houston, Texas, we were able to see for the first time, the first-hand effects of the disaster. And we lend support to many who were displaced from their homes by the hurricane.
we had the opportunity to see first-hand some of the effects of this disaster and to lend support to so many who had been displaced from their homes and their lives.
The city’s convention center was filled to it’s brim by thousands of people who became homeless due to the hurricane.
The Houston Astrodome and other places where fully occupied by people fleeing from the hurricane and seeking for relief and other supports they could get.
Row upon row of cots lined the buildings, is now the temporary home to those who had lost everything to the hurricane.
Even as the American Hurricane monitoring agency gave an advance warning against it’s massive destruction and capacity, most people still didn’t believe it would be as devastating as it was.
And while most of us may not experience a hurricane in our country or location, but we all have a time in our life experiences life storms every now and then.
When the big storms rolls in our life, it suddenly and immediately turns out merry days with darkness and worry.
You should know this
It can come in form of a brief conversation, an accident, a diagnosis, or life-altering occurrence. And we would be left in worries, thoughts, and self-blame how we didn’t see it coming.Hits us hard.
Leaves us flat.
Bad news crashes.
Pressure rises, anxiety rains down, heavy, strong, in an overwhelming torrent. We can’t help ourselves to quash the storm before it rises, and we can’t stop it from occurring our lives. But, we can who to run to and take refuge when the storm tries to swallow us.
7 Things You Should Always Know:
Storms Will Come. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” Isaiah 43:2
It doesn’t say “if,” but “when.” Because the will surely happen. It’s something inevitable and unavoidable. But the bible let us know that God will be with us in times like this.
Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den. Joseph was thrown into prison. Job lost all he had when it struck. The disciples were persecuted.
As a believer, we are not immune from every hard circumstances of life, but God will be with His people in the of their trouble’s.
– Heed the warnings
“Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.” Matt. 24:42 God through His Word is reminding us to stay awake everyday to things that surround us or may surround us.
Though, we easily let go of these warnings when things are going fine. We forget the warnings if the Lord and chart our ways.
Believing that we have outgrown circumstances and we can handle every situation that comes our way. Or the we can escape from uneven scenario because we believe we are smart.
Even as God provides us a way of escape in times of trouble, we still need His wisdom to know the route to follow. Wehn to go and when to stay.
Be Prepared
“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” Ephesians 5:15-17 Yes, life is often predictable.
Often times, we face the greatest challenge in our life with little or no warning. The best way to be prepared against unforeseen circumstances is to stay in close relationship with God.
Walking in His holiness. We need the Lord everyday of our life, His refreshing Spirit, a time in His sanctuary, praying and reading His Word.
The more closer we are with the Lord in the spirit, the better equipped we are in our physical body. And strong in Him to face whatever comes our way.
You should deal with those things that cause you to sin, pursuing peace with all men, and keeping our relationship inline with God.
Dine and fellowship with other believers, join faith believing church, be part of God’s work in His ministry. And in the winning of souls for Christ.
Know Where To Find Refuge
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Ps. 46:2 When we encounter life storm, our minds quickly finds a safe place we can run to or who we believe can deliver us.
Whatsoever that life storms brings to us, no matter how it has crumbled our days, let’s not forget the one who never forgets His children in times of trouble.
God is the one who will never deny us in times like this. He is the only one who walked on troubling water. He is still the King of kings.
He is still the only one who has command over the things if the world and heavens. And can speak to the storm to be still, and it would be still, “Peace, be still.”
The Enemy Comes In Like a Flood
“…When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.” Is. 59:19
The enemy will surely come to our lives to wreck havoc. He causes troubles and disasters. He enjoys to cause the children of God to stumble and worry.
He is there to steal, kill, and destroy. Due to lack of trust in God, when a few bad things occur in our life, we lose faith in God. Let’s k kw today that God never leaves His people and will fight for us till the end.
God Is Over The Flood
“The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord sits enthroned as king forever. May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace!” Ps. 29:10-11
What a great reminder that God is still all powerful, over the hurricane, the storms, the disasters, and He’s not pacing heaven’s floors, but He “sits enthroned over the flood.”
He’s still in control and He knows our way. He understands what concerns us. Our “flood” may not be hurricane or literal water today.
It may be a disease, an infection, academic failures, it can be raising a family. We may feel overwhelmed when we can’t carry out load anymore. We may want to give up and let everything loose.
The scripture wants to buttress us that we shouldn’t doubt the Lord for a minute that He’s not there. He’s always there watching over us.
Even in our darkest moments and days in life. We do not battle our storm alone. He is there with us through His Holy Spirit. Two things God gives us in the midst of the “flood.” He gives “strength to His people,” and He blesses us with “peace.”
Life Comes Back
“I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.” Gen. 9:13
Even when we face challenges like the Hurricane Katrina that ravaged all people’s belongings and rendered them homeless.
It did not render then hopeless if you have faith in God. No matter the huge loss you suffered in your business, the hard times you fail, and how often you wanted to give up.
Remember, life comes back. After the rain, comes the sun. After the struggle, comes the glory. God is our redeemer and will surely redeem us as He redeemed Job.
Redeemed Joseph, Noah. And He is still the same God of that century, this century, and next century to come. He is always God. Still faithful to His promises and to His Word.
